Our team was announced as the Volunteer Team of the Year at the City of Wodonga Volunteer Awards.

These awards recognise excellence in voluntary service and show appreciation for the quality and depth of voluntary service to the community.

FoodShare has over 100 volunteers with around 15 volunteers working at FoodShare every day. Our volunteers provide about 16,000 hours of service per year, which is valued at more than $400,000.

FoodShare volunteer Gary Mawby was also honoured at the Volunteer Awards for his work in the Wodonga community, winning The Bryan Watson Individual Volunteer of the Year Award.

Gary’s caring and professional manner as well as his ability to work well in a team were just some of the reasons Gary received the award.

"I started volunteering in 2011 as a way of giving something back to the community and for the opportunities that volunteering provides," he said.

At a presentation this morning, City of Wodonga Mayor Anna Speedie and Albury City Mayor Kevin Mack presented the award to Peter who said “It means a lot to be recognised in this way. It’s a massive team effort and a well-deserved award for our volunteers”.
